Too Far OutA Poem by Nicole GurneyWe’re sinking down, we’re too far out. We’re sinking down, we’re too far out… These high winds have carried us out to the point of no return. No return, no return.
We’ve lost the urge to swim back to shore, The paddles are gone no rowing ashore. We’ve waded here for far too long. The further we sink each memory gone.
Plunging, plunging further we sink. It’s way too late for us to stop and think, While subjected to this eternal drowning, Falling, falling, and always frowining.
We’re sinking down, we’re too far out. We’re sinking down, we’re too far out… These high winds have carried us out to the point of no return. No return, no return.
We drifted apart day by day, And yet there I feel as if I have so much to say… Upon your departure the water grows shallow. And inside, I no longer feel hallow. I’m finally afloat, and back in the boat
…and I’m sailing off to sea. © 2008 Nicole Gurney |
