You Are

You Are

A Poem by Nicole Gurney

You are the cancer that is slowly killing me,

Eating at every ounce of love that I have left

Taking away each bit of life that lingers with in,

Weakening me from the inside out

You are the reason that I’ve gone mad,

With your lies,

Your “love”

And

Hope

You are the reason I can’t breathe.

Your perfection chokes me…

Your false truths of emotion,

And caring…

They block the air.

You are reason I cry.

Memories that are nothing more,

Nothing more than deceitful fairytales

Those memories,

They have trickled down my face,

Along with the tears that I’ve cried

You are the reason my heart beats

Wishful thinking provokes such activity

I do not long for YOU to be the reason I feel,

The reason I love

And

Hope

You are the reason my heart is paralyzed

Your deathful strikes against me,

Have dubbed me stoic

There is no resurrecting me now

You are the reason I’m dead.
