Wicked Lure

Wicked Lure

A Chapter by R. L. Hill

Freedom is a wicked lure:

Baited hook;
Wiggling worm
To feed the ever-hungry mouths
Of fish submerged beneath the
Waters of illusion.
A dam created for fishers of men
Not seeking nourishment but
Trophies:
A glorious representation of
Their dominion and our blind trust.

Freedom sounds like a beautiful lie people came up with to distract us from the chains and shackles we can't get rid of. Well that's what I got from it. Me gusta lol.

A cage pendant or a the pendant with a bird soaring engraved onto it? (Bioshock Infinite) This sort of popped in my mind when I read this poem. Being restrained can have its drawbacks, as does freedom which can ever be just as dangerous.

Lovely poem. Many people are blind to te fact that they are being tricked. Blinded by their freedom. Thank you for this chapter.

Humanity has surrendered to the "matrix" theme and became robots and dumbed down in what they think is true freedom...indeed...powerful piece x

Dear Quirklet,

That is so dark, so ruthless.
You managed to keep the required feel intact along with it. I have never read the other chapters but, would definitely read the others also.

Thanks for sharing it.

Stay blessed
