Friendship, Lost

Friendship, Lost

A Chapter by R. L. Hill
"

Not everyone can be a constant in your life.

"

Acidic bile

Coats my tongue

Raw pain

Chokes my throat

Wretched tears

Stain my cheeks

Fury

My hands are shaking

I scream

No sound

You won't listen anyways

Words

A jagged knife

Thrust into my heart

Your friendship......

What friendship?

A dynamic

No longer tolerated

A robot

That's all you are

Unreadable code

Did I ever truly know you?

I curse you

You ignore me

Silence is a better drug

Than venomous spittle

Of calculated phrases

Confusion

Scars my trust

Thrust, thrust, slice

Killing me with niceties

Cut out that chunk

Where you -

You used to be

Your words have a spontaneous feel to them which I really like. It's so true, not everyone can be a constant in your life, and when you realize that's the case with people you've grown used to having around, people you might have come to love, it's just a stab in the heart.

Thank you kindly!
Beautiful poetry, it's raw, and heartfelt dear one. You describe the true loss of a friendship, and how emotions start to freeze almost, or get rigid, during this rare time between two.... I have seen them coming too, and going, and coming back, and going, and so on and forth, but there is a limit to it... well penned and written... lovely work. xx

The feeling that grabs my attention is the sheer honesty of the piece, well done, good read.

Thank you!
The short lines give a really good jagged feel to this, it hurts to read. But, since most of your lines are 'complete' thoughts or phrases on their own, they still feel very even. I think if you broke up the thoughts even more, this would be astounding!

This is so powerfully dramatic. like a dagger to the heart. sometimes that's what it takes to get someone that hurt you out of your life. just imagine them dead and buried.
although the scars may fade, the memories can last a life time.

best to get them out and be done with them.

Nice work my friend, Trace

I feel like you're screaming this, trying to be heard. Short quick blasts, against the memorized words that are used like a weapon, or a shield. I liked this, Quirklet. Silent Serenity was right. I do like your work.
