It is difficult to determine whether a mirror is a friend or foe, or just something that is just there. A mirror tends to reflect only physical appearance and subtle emotions as if that looking glass was actually a person taking a glance at you for the first time. They don't know who you are but what reflects in vision, or in this case a mirror, makes them fabricate a separate mindset for what you might be and have been through. There's a lot of elements in this poem that I can just keep babbling on about, but I love it! Spectacular!

The mirror sees all our masks, but also sees the face beneath. It reflects our joy, our wounds, our sorrow, but only on a surface level. It cannot see the cause, the chaos of emotions beneath our skin cocoons. The mirror sees all, but knows nothing. Excellent poem! :)
Reading this poem, which strikes deep, into my heart, of the struggle, to have others see, the true person, who stands before them. And not the preconceived image, they judge us, by. A struggle that too many people have to face, on a daily basis.
Yes, Quirklet, I see you, for the beautiful and talented woman, who expresses herself, so gracefully.

I love this poem because I think in a way it explains how people think they see you for who you are but they may not really ever know what you go through and why you do things. It also seems as though it means how people can even be confused about who they are at times.

Exactly. Being a mere a reflection of yourself is difficult to express.
This is so, so, so powerful. I could really feel the agony...

Q, this is an amazing poem. Is it even possible to be truly understood, seen for who we truly are? Even by ourselves? I wonder. Beautiful form, expression and imagery. Thanks!

I think that the challenge of discovering ourselves is more fun than full understanding. So the goal of complete knowledge is never in our grasp and yet we love that about ourselves and even other people. The journey is enticing and the secrets are surmounting, compacted, never fully explored. We, therefore, are endless mysteries floating about with treasures unattainable. What a beautiful existence, don't you think?

I love this. To me it captures our struggle against our desires to be truly understood in a world where it is nearly impossible.
