"The Cost of Love"

"The Cost of Love"

A Poem by ivy thornhill
"

the poem speaks of how love can bring happiness and sadness while maintaining the façade of joy.

"

The day I met you,
something inside me shifted,
a strange, unfamiliar feeling,
your presence lingering in my chest
with no reason,
no explanation.

I felt love's weight,
though I swore I’d never fall,
yet your beauty, hypnotic and cruel,
changed me"
consumed me,
made me forget myself.

But when I confessed,
you shattered me.
I tried to piece myself back together,
but the memory of you
continually breaks the fragments I’ve mended.

I killed for love,
I would kill once more"
but love has abandoned me,
leaving me with nothing but darkness.
