The Aqueous Fire

The Aqueous Fire

A Poem by Katie Snyder
"

I was inspired by fog this morning

"

Walking along the old paths and roads

Strangely feeling cold with a moisture coating the surface of my skin

Much like morning dew coats each blade of grass

I am a blade of grass; I am one with the forest

My vision is limited to only the things right in front of me

And all I see is smoky white

And all is blissfully quiet and unmoving,

And yet I’ve never felt more blissfully alive

I walk along the fog and the mist

Letting its presence dance and run through my fingers

As smooth as smoke

I am walking through the aqueous fire

Not burned nor scarred or singed

I, a forest spirit, wild and carelessly free

Even though I do not know what lies beyond each corner

The shadows of the unknown are haunting,

And perhaps ever so slightly daunting

But I let the watery flame engulf me

And so I lose myself within the tall blades of grass

Watching the inverse inferno

Evaporate into nothingness...
