The Code

The Code

A Poem by Katie Snyder

Your updates via technology

Cause some people to worry

One minute your on top of the world

The next he's lit the flame and watching you burn

'Baby you know I didn't mean it'

Is what he'll say

When he's afraid this time

You'll actually get brave and walk away

But where are you to go?
You've left all your friends in the cold

All you seem to care about

is a guy whose love for you isn't real

Girl, when he breaks your heart for the last time

I want you to remember all the nights

I held you while you cried

I want you to remember how you turned your back on me

And everyone who truly cared

Cause when he's really gone

We're not all going to be standing there

You wear an artificial smile

And everybody knows it

You lie and say you never dishonored the code

But everybody knows it

People are constantly whispering your name

Wondering how you could have no shame

For your over exertion

of P.D.A

But everyone, even him, knows its not affection

But a desperate cry for his attention

That he's giving everywhere else

He's breaking you, just let him go. Just let him go

When he breaks your heart for the very last time
I want you to remember all the nights

I held you while you cried

I want you to remember all the things you did and said

And I hope they're all things that you regret

I want you to remember how you turned your back on me

And all your friends, and the things you said you once believed

Don't kid your self that he really cares.

Cause once he's really gone,

We might not all be standing there.

Sisters before Misters

Bro's before Hoe's

That's the code

That's the way its supposed to go

True friends are there forever

Lovers come and go like the weather

Don't let us go

Honor the code.
