How the Tables Have Turned.

How the Tables Have Turned.

A Poem by Katie Snyder

In that monotonous building

In anything but a monotonous town

I felt eyes upon me

And as I looked around

I found you

So innocently staring

So boldly daring

Is it me or-

No.

I can feel your heart tearing

Your eyes, clouded with thoughts

but mainly with tears

and many now alive fears.

I do catch myself wondering

on days like today

when the wind shakes the house

and the rain is but a spray

But maybe that is just as well.

What would today would've been

Who we could've been.

What we could've been.

Oh, how the tables have turned.

From when it was my heart breaking.

My being aching.

My words shaking.

And you looked me in the eyes

You said everything was going to be alright

And it was.

It is.

And now as I sit here

Listening to the pounding

of the roaring wind upon my surroundings

I cannot erase the image of those eyes

So broken and terrified

from my mind.

Oh, how the tables have turned.
