There is no such thing as a real life teenage fairytale. They always end in tragedy

 

Once upon a time, I knew you

Once upon a time, I kissed you

Once upon a time, I loved you but that was once upon a time

 

Once upon a time I was a princess stuck in a tall stone tower

And then my knight in shining armor

Came to my rescue

I was at once in love with you

 

We rode off on your gallant steed
Away from the cursed place

Your arm securely around waist,

Not letting go of me

I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to be

 

Once upon a time, I knew you

Once upon a time, I kissed you

Once upon a time, I loved you but that was once upon a time

 

Once upon a time you took me back to your golden castle

I was amazed at everything, every color, every room, every tassel

That first kiss I will never forget

And certainly never regret

For then you proclaimed your love to me

I was head over heels in my own fantasy

 

Once upon a time, I knew you

Then the Duke’s daughter came along

At first I thought it was nothing, and then I learned I was wrong

You denied to everyone what they could see

But more importantly, you lied… to… me

nice..simple..poignant...i liked it...i have a poem sort of written in a similar fairytale based vein entitled The Wizard..you should check it out..as i reading your poem, it kinda reminded me of it...getting your heart broken sucks and this poem certainly amplifies that..nice work.
