Chance

Chance

A Poem by Jules
"

Response to a poetry challenge; words to use: yellow, lost, delay, tree, decided, followed, ordinary, sleep, intimidated, obsession; only allowed 30 lines

"

Lost in day sleep

Erased by the everyday

Decided to follow

The obsession to its end

Felled a tree, underneath

No forest home, just one

Hence, heard

And felt

And seen

Yellow burns my eyes

Jumping orange in my head

Indigo, deep underbelly

Violet expiration

Inevitable delay

Processes intimidate

Difficult to hear

More grueling, then, to grasp

Fight on?

Fight on.

Keep trying

What else is there to do?

Things will change

Or won’t

Prevail, I simply must

The thinking, the disease

Will be overcome

The open-minded heart
The open-hearted mind

Perspective giving strength

Each beat-down, a new chance
