A Poem by mariposa
"

she was all I could see

"
both of my eyes were on the picture that dictates the person who I am,
a mirror.

but, my vision was betrayed.

I was staring at the crashing waves of the ocean;
a reflection that refracted all my flaws and imperfections.

she was all I could see,
a stranger in the mirror

This reminds me very much of Sylvia Plath's "Mirror", and how she used the metaphor of a woman aging and not liking how she looked, to what she really saw inside herself and didn't like.
I like the single line and the next stanza which says to me that the speaker might have no betrayed vision at all...just a reality that is hard to accept.
Well done.

Your poem is a powerful reflection on the challenges of self-perception and the struggle to accept oneself. The metaphor of the ocean waves and the mirror's reflection effectively convey the sense of being lost or disconnected from one's true self. It's a poignant and relatable message, and I appreciate your ability to express it in such a concise and impactful way. Well done!

dear Mariposa… we do see ourselves without our flaws… and that is Good.. because it gives us a lovely outlook, such as, white fluffy clouds with blue skies and silhouettes of Kings and Queens and Angels.. a lovely poem of Quiet Beauty.
gently, Pat
