Life's Funeral

Life's Funeral

A Poem by iteskawi
"

1994 - beginning of dark years

"

Sleeping wind

Desolate pastures

Petrified perfume of flowers and grass

Hardened earth

Frozen water

Burnt sky.

Corpses of dreams

diminished in vultures' beaks

gulped down stench

screams of pain

raw hide over shivering bones

of eyes without a spark.

And thoughts of a world

wandered and roamed

by colors

painting pictures

for the tongue to speak

for the eye to behold

for the wind to move

for the flowers to scent

for the pastures to unfold

for the earth to breathe

and the water to flow

into a sky

of endless blue.
