This last war..

This last war..

A Poem by isiah_holmes

The day of silence is finially here

The day the rebel soldiers all rest

They all rest, content and tired of madness

The moons healing rays, fading dim, into the mind

They find

The peace they craved is not so sweet

Peacetime kills them faster than any other enemy

They have discovered peace- their new foe

It is truely..

Quickly, let the commanders know!

The night is still, the bombed out streets

Dangerous blocks, dark blocks lined with boobytrapped kindness

One young girl, rifle in hand

Dreams only of love past

Her heart as dry as sand

Take the hand of the dying child

The cruel one, the purest hate

Feel how cold it feels

How trapped we truely are

Often wondering why we have been allowed this far

Here they sleep, in the rubbled town

The town they stormed, the lives they stole

They feel nothing, only their own suffering

Perhaps when they return home

When they return to their empty homes

Shelled and burning, they will see

Life, love, what it is meant to be

One child looks, a rebel, she cant sleep

Searching for her teddy bear

The only thing that ever made her care

Somewhere in the rubble, a monument to her sin

She will find innocence

Something this town robbed from them

From all of us

Burn

You did an excellent job on this poem! I enjoyed reading! I must say, you must keep writing!
I spotted a few typos, but other than that, it was quite a good read. Keep up the good work!

I really liked this, it was very powerful and poignant. The second to last stanza was my favorite, the ending rhyme of the two lines made it stand out and accentuated the meaning. The beginning isn't as strong as the middle or end, but otherwise it's quite well done. Great job!
