The RoomA Poem by Ishita SrivastavaTHE ROOM Once I woke up in the middle of the night With my sleepy eyes, I wondered why there is no light? It was so dark That I couldn’t see a mark! I stepped out of the bed and Walked towards the switch plank, But the long way for it Made me totally blank! Finally I got the switch for light And pushed it to make my room bright! When slowly the view got clear, I could not bear. Do you know why? Let me tell that like a spy! My little room was transformed into a big hall And was cleaned and decorated Like a new doll! There was a sort of confusion in my head When I saw my little sleeping corner Changed to a big bed! I saw another transformation In the room, The old carpet also had a new loom. Even the smallest things Changed its shape Including the old round tape. It felt like I’m in another world And for that I couldn’t speak a word I was astonished and sad Because the old things Only made me glad! Suddenly I heard a buzzing sound And realized that my alarm was around! While opening eyes , To see the view I wished that My room is not new. Gradually I understood that The thing which made me scream That was just a dream! -Ishita Srivastava © 2021 Ishita SrivastavaAuthor's Note
