Prologue

It was one of those nights when the sky was so dark that you couldn’t see the stars and the mist was so thick and dense that you could almost feel it stuck to you. That was when a girl named Rose was walking home from work; usually there was nothing wrong with her walking home alone at night, but this night there was something amiss, abnormal, Rose was having this eerie feeling that she couldn’t shake off, she felt like someone was following her. Rose kept looking behind her, although the only thing she saw was the street lights flickering. Then all of a sudden she started to hear noises, and then she looked again and saw a shadow, that gave her a fright, at that moment she went straight home. While running she fell, and grazed her knee, which was when she felt something grab her ankle. What she saw at that moment made shivers run down her spine. She couldn’t see its face, but it was slimy by touch and it looked disgusting, and the stench it smelled like road kill. Rose kicked it and its arm fell off she got to her feet and started to run, she didn’t know where she was running to. She stopped and looked around so she could see where she was, she wasn’t far from home. She didn’t know if that thing, if you can call anything else but a thing, was following her. Finally she got to her house, opened the front gate and crept inside. When she was at the door, Rose found her keys but her hands were trembling so much that she dropped them. She bent to get them and heard another noise. She looked up and saw that it was a black cat. Relief swept over her, and she opened the door and went inside, and she went through out each room in the house and closed all the doors and windows then she just tried to calm herself. Rose started to think what that had been, “What had been following her?”She had no answer for what had happened to her, and there was no one to call. So as usual she tried to put her fears aside for that day and just went to bed.

But what Rose didn’t know was that the creature which chased her was something dark and very dangerous from her past that even she didn’t know about.
