Smiles and Hurt

Smiles and Hurt

A Poem by Isabella

I know of harm and sorrow, and crystal tears that fall.

I've felt the pain and loss, and the emptiness that follows.

You say you know the feeling? Well I guarantee you don’t,

For you were born with smiles, and I was born with hurt.

I've lived with bitter fears, anxieties and worries.

My eyes see past the falseness, but you just stand there blind

I'm overflowed with sadness; it hits me from both sides,

From the earliest of ancestors, back before my time.

It came to me quite often, like a long black hallow sleep.

Then slowly it subsided, and my mind was set at ease,

But quickly it returned, but only for a second!

Like a faint and subtle tremor, with aftermath much worse.

Soon I went to hide, and never did return.

The dim light hides my worries, but never can erase.

The corner's where I stayed, till life drained from my body,

Because you were born with smiles and never did know hurt.
