I Lie Awake

I Lie Awake

A Poem by ~ Tex

I lie awake
   looking at that space
Wondering when
   you'll take your place

This void I feel
   is overwhelming and real
As I try to live
with all this love left to give

But I really just can't
   it seems so aberrant
To try to go on
with only a fake smile to don

It's asking too much
for me to be happy and such
For without you here
my zeal to live is lost I fear.

If I could narrow down what most impressed me about this poem it was the truth that you captured that so many feel. If this is your story, thank you for sharing. If this is what you have learned in life, thank you as well. I enjoy art. I enjoyed this. Well done. Barb
