Rollercoaster to Hell and BackA Poem by Isa RuffattiTeenager moments, we all get them...One moment I am smiling, A smile so big it's creepy. Another moment I'm crying my eyes out For unresolved issues. Yet another moment I am angry At myself, my own peers, the world. You cannot scream at the world, they said. It will turn a deaf ear, they said. I can try. Then I'm afraid, so afraid I feel like screaming I resist the urge to hide away Seldom am I entirely peaceful, Content with saying nothing, Content with myself. Call me a freak, Tell me I have issues, But that's the way it is The roller coaster to hell and back. One moment I am a wallflower Another moment I try to be someone else And break my introvert shell I want to be Agatha Christie I want to be Meggie Folchart I want to be Alfred Hitchcock Or a happier version of Marvin the Paranoid Android Anything but one more day as a teenager Because that's how you call it This Caligula-esque madness The unresolved issues not even Sherlock Holmes can solve Because as a teenager You question everything ever taught, From your own personal identity To the core of existence itself We seek answers, We get them. We question the answer, We don't get them. We answer the question ourselves in the form of theories As children The world seemed so big We could do anything. As teenagers The Universe seems infinite We can do anything We can do nothing We know the limits, But we also dream It is time for the truth It is the time for contradictions It is the time to laugh It is the time to cry It is the time to protest It is the time to be quiet It is conflict It is peace It is the roller coaster to hell and back.
