Shine

Shine

A Poem by Isa Ruffatti

Shine

Blinding lights look up at me

I cower behind a curtain

Dancers, clad in colorful velvet

To the stage they march

A decision on their minds

Should I follow?

The blinding lights keep me at bay

Turning my clothes to knots

Anxiety creeps into my soul

Like abundant vermin

It eats my will to shine

Darkness floods my thoughts

Bigger men and women

Push their way unto the stage

Their own private stage

A private spotlight awaits

For you and for me

Brave soul, turn fear away!

Jump unto a shakespearian theatre

Of yer own creation

Cause a light awaits you

Shine like a supernova

Reach for the stars!

The time has come

For me to step up and shine
