Lake MA Poem by (no es) mariacross alignment, a wee bit ago
there's no edge, just fake terrain. that place where we last watched the fire comets fall and flail
brothers and sisters and lovers, we sat, by the concrete slabs and B wanted to know "When is it gonna happen, f****n-A!" and we didn't know
we couldn't even be sure what we saw was real. like now, we hate the nowadays
we hate when our friends talk about how old we feel how they feel because we feel the same we still feel like we're twelve waiting for our allowance money and
our teeth is wearing thin from biting down gritting hard denying all of the things we need to say:
"Maria, that wasn't a very funny joke" "Gordon, I really hate that song." "George, why don't you try to start a band with people that actually want to play?" "Lucy, I really miss you."
Over by the not-so-wholesome sand Lake Michigan's litterbox we watched things cross-align watched the satellite wink garbage signals we swore we saw something unknown, fly past we swore it was something, we kept watching and waited watching, just waiting maybe that was always the problem
we still keep watching and waiting while adulthood sneaks up from behind
