While I definitely think not always knowing how you fit in the world is a common part of growing up and learning, it's also not something you necessarily ever grow out of either. That isn't meant to be particularly discouraging, because maybe, your fit is absolutely embracing that you are that way. I know I still feel remarkably unsuited to everything and everywhere but that's ok.
It's an interesting analogy about the skipping rock. Having at least attempted to skip many rocks in my lifetime (and discovering that I'm not particularly good at it), it created a very specific picture in my mind of trying to wrap my hand around a rock that was shaped just differently enough that it would float across the water. Very interesting.
As a side note, it's very cool that you chose the picture to be the text of the poem, but that might not work in all cases, especially if it gets a whole lot longer. Just something to keep in mind.
