A Story by The Shortcomings & Goings Of Mr. B. Griffin

"Have you paid the rent?"

"Yes & no. I've written the check, but haven't dropped it off."

"Well, how much money is left?"

"A couple of bucks, enough to have some fine coffee."

"Is that why we are standing her, transfixed on the girl behind the register."

"I don't know what you are talking about, I am not transfixed."

"I'm sorry, but you can't be any more clearly staring at her body wishing that it was her you were making love to nightly."

"Well, come on, you can't say that, you know i'd never."

"Never? You say that all the time, I have a half mind not to believe you."

"But...I.....honestly?!?"

"Enough, you should pay now.  Otherwise they might think you are a leacherous fool set upon running off."

He had forgotten that in his passing, that the girl, who he was very much transfixed on, was asking him to swipe his credit card. The line was impatiently waiting for his transaction to be complete, and here he was letting everybody down.

He picked up his book and apologetically walked away to sit and read.
