Addicting escape

A Story by Irfaan
"

I'm a hater, I know

"

A bright yellow light, it fades and returns. A cycle; on, off, on, off. A notification. It’s amazing how the outcome of something so trivial can have such a huge impact on emotion. I unlock my phone. A message, a smile, a reply. A glance though the news feed, maybe I’ll scroll a little more. A mistake. Post after post, pout after pout, I grow tired. App closed. What about this one? Another Mistake. Scroll, scroll, scroll. An article. An Album review, maybe this will be interesting. A waste of time, a pretentious, negative review of an album that just went platinum. Well done, you managed to make me click. A realisation. An hour wasted.

So true. This is literally how I spend the hours I"m supposed to poke my nose into a maths textbook. Well done!

Love,
Vasilees.

You have captured the essence of the modern hour in less than an hour, and I thoroughly appreciate that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I got some notifications on my phone.
