Crawling To The SunA Poem by iofthemourningA song I wrote when I was 18. It is my favorite song I wrote, both lyrically and musically. It shows the journey of finding oneself, discovering right and wrong and fighting the war within. All the memories that we leave behind The thoughts once lost that we must find What’s wrong or right it’s just in your head Turning your back on everything you saidWalking backwards on the road to my home Rediscovering where my mind learned to roam Need to be free from what’s locked inside The questions that are left for each man to decideIn my heart and in my head
I’m searching through the mystery Passing all of your judgments Only on what the eye can see Now I’m crawling to the sun
One last hope and prayer to make me strong
Again
I know there’s always springtime ahead But I’m counting steps to get there instead Do you really believe this smile on my face? It’s been too long, since you put me in this place
Faith slips through the cracks it is placed on The warped surface fails to uphold Trying to resolve the distrust in everyone Trying to resolve the distrust inside myself And find love
In my heart and in my head I’m searching through the mystery Ignoring all of your judgments And finally finding me
