Chapter 1A Chapter by Jessica L. W.
"Kaitlynn?" I stand up from washing the blood off the floor, "Yes, Master Victor?" He gives me that kid-like grin, "How are you feeling today?" I blink at him, "The same as everyday why?" "It's your seventeenth birthday!" I roll my eyes, "So? What makes it different than any other day of my life? I still have to clean up your mess." I kneel back down and grab the rag from the bucket of hot water. Victor grabs the rag from my hands. "I'm giving you the day off." He kneels down and starts to scrub. "Master Victor-" "How many times do I have to tell you to call me Victor?" He bares a fang. "...... Victor, why can't you be like normal vampires? It's just another day, let me clean." Victor gives me a look of anger, though his red eyes are filled with hurt. I stand up and start to walk away. "Kaitlynn," I turn around, "Yes?" "When was the last time you ate?" He gives me a worried look. "It-it's my birthday, can we not talk about this?" Victor stares at me, "Wednesday." I look down. "Wednesday!" Victor yells, "Wednesday! You haven't eaten for five days!" I feel his hands on my arms, but I refuse to look at him. "I'm sorry, Master." I can't let him know about the daily visits from Master Dave. Victor starts to kiss my neck, from anger comes hunger, will he kill me this time? I tilt my head to the left, I feel the cool sharpness of his fangs, but they disappear before they break the skin, as does his hands from my arms. I look up, he's back to scrubbing the floor. "Is everything all right, Master Victor?" "You better eat dinner tonight, I'm making it myself." I smile, "Yes, Sir"
Summer helps me get ready for dinner. She zips up the dress, it was still a little loose. "Your mother wore this dress for her seventeenth birthday." She says. I look in the mirror, the satin green dress matches well with my green eyes. My black hair hair was tied up and curled. Summer puts some eyeshadow on my eyes, making them pop.I grab some lipstick and rub it on. No perfume, vampires hate strong smells. I smile at Summer, she's my aunt, she's been like a mom to me, since my mom died when I was little. Summer had blond hair, it was starting to turn gray. The years haven't been kind to her, her face was full of wrinkles. She had blue eyes that were always filled with terror, no matter where she's at. Anyone would think she's at least fifty, she's thirty-five. Summer walks to her dresser and grabs a gold chain necklace, there was a heart of gold with a emerald in the center of it. She walks behind me and clips the necklace around my neck. Oh, Summer, it's beautiful!" "Your father gave it to your mother on their anniversary, he made me promise to give it to you." I turn around and look at Summer. "Thank you." There's a knock at the door, Summer walks into the other room, closing the door behind her. I hear the door open. "Why, hello, Sire, Kaitlynn is still getting ready, come in, come in." I'm scared, I hear Victor walk in, "Thank you, Summer." I touch my neck where Victor has bitten so many times. "Are you hungry?" Summer asks. "No! no, no, thank you" Victor refusing blood, what is with him tonight? I take a deep breath and walk into the other room, Victor is standing there in a white suit, his silver hair shining in the dim light. He is holding a white rose with a light green in the center. "Wow, Kaitlynn, you're beautiful." I notice Victor stares at my chest longer than he should have. "Thanks, Master" I nod my head. Most humans will die for the chance to have there Master's to notice them, why me? "No, none of that tonight, we're just two friends going to eat a homemade meal, and a friends house." "You mean Miss Jenny?" I ask, Jenny, the only other creature that has manage to capture Victor's attention, but this one is the same species as him, a blood-sucking monster. "No, just Jenny." He places the rose in my hair and grins, "Perfect." I stare at those soft red eyes, how long have I known this vampire? He notices me staring and smiles, he grabs my hand. I blush, "Ma-master?" "What did I say about calling me that! It's just Victor! Not Master! Not Sir! Just Victor!" He bares his fangs. I flinch and look down, "I-I'm sorry." I tilt my head down. I hear Victor sigh, he squeezes my hand, a little too hard, "No, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped." I look up at him, he looks hurt, "Can we just leave now, Victor?" He gives me a sad grin, "Sure." I smile at him. We walk out to the servant quarter hallway, the ugly wood floor clicked as I walked, pictures of famous vampires fill the hallways, including Master Dave, I shiver as we pass it by, Victor gives me the worried look, but doesn't say anything. We walk outside, the moon shining. Victor flinches a little as the sunlight bounces off the moon. We walk through a tree-lined street, there's a rabbit, a little white one, with red eyes, an albino. Victor stiffens at my side, the last time he ate was, around dusk, right? "Victor, when was the last time you ate?" I look at him. "Last night." He stares at the albino bunny as we walk. I let go of his hand, "Just get the bunny, try not to get blood on that tux." Victor looks at me, I smile, he nods and runs after the bunny, faster than my eyes can follow. If that was not his mess of human blood on the floor earlier, who's was it? Victor appears from the trees, blood on the corner of his mouth, and only a few drops on his suit. I smile at him. He doesn't look happy. "What's wrong?" I ask him, he shakes his head. "Nothing." We made it to Jenny's mansion in silence. Her mansion is huge! Bigger than Victors! I stare at the house while Victor knocks on the door. I ran up while the door was being opened. I swear, that is the most beautiful, evil, witch I know, Victor forgot all about me. © 2012 Jessica L.
