Chapter 37 Legend

Chapter 37 Legend

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

We sat in a circle around the fire. I somehow managed to be stuck in between Terrian and Jeb. Terrian had one hand, and Jeb kept trying to get the other.

Mini cleared her throat, “The legend is pretty much just a bedtime story for little kids in my tribe, a story of freedom.

“A nice king would meet an early end, done by the hands of someone he trusted. The queen would marry someone almost immediately after. The person she married would kill her, and ruled the kingdom himself.”

Mother stood up, “He did not kill me!” Mimi stared at her.

“The weak woman is the queen? I did not expect that.” Mom sat back down. “So, the king, we called him the evil king, ruled the kingdom for about a couple weeks. Than he was killed, by a person trying to bring back the dead; and a kind girl took control of the kingdom, Princess Marilynn.

“Princess Marilynn didn’t have a good life; her father was killed by her mother.”

What? Mom killed Dad! “What?” I look at Mother, “You killed Dad?”

Mother looked at her hands, “Jace told me to, he, he said, lies about your father.” She looked up, she was crying “And I believed him, like the weak woman I am.”

I nod, Jace is evil, he must be stopped, “Sorry Mimi, continue the legend, please.”

Mimi nods, “Her mother married a new man, but was abused by him. They got divorced three years later, but before that, The new husband convinced the mother to kill Princess Marilynn. Marilynn ran away.

“While in the woods, she is helped by a psychic, who later gets killed for crossing the line into limbo.

“She finds a hurt baby dragon while mourning the loss of her friend, and mends him back to health. He protects her from the evil king’s guards.”

“You hear that Terrian, ‘Baby Dragon’” Jeb says.

I look at Terrian; he rolls his eyes and smiles at me.

Mimi continues, “A women who was just kicked out of the kingdom comes looking to help the princess destroy the man that kicked her out, she proved helpless.”

    “Helpless!” My mother cried.

“Marilynn had a friend when she was in the kingdom that she had a forgotten.”

Terrian smirks at Jeb, “You hear that, forgotten.”

Mimi glares at Terrian, her hair becomes a light purple, “Her friend had loved her, and when she ran away, he went after her, he had the ability to heal, and he managed to save one of the helpers of Princess Marilynn.

“The weak woman ran into a guard, that had killed all the other guards in his group, he had asked to join the princess, hoping he could take the king’s soul, and use it to bring the dead back, but to be able to join, he had to promise to bring the psychic back. He has killed so many, for something that even witches hadn’t been able to do, I call him insane.

“There is one last person, the abandoned witch, the witch tribe will fall, with one last remaining witch left behind, she will find Princess Marilynn and tell her this legend, giving her even more hope that she will succeed. That was my job, I finished it. I hope I can still be of use to you.” Mini looks at me.

“I hope so too.” Terrian says. I elbow him, “What?” he asks.

“You know what.” I stare at him, he’s so cute. I kiss him.

Terrian pulls away, “Guards are coming.”
