Chapter 35 LightA Chapter by Jessica L. W. “Kevin, I have a question.” “Yes, Autumn?” Kevin looks at me with a smile. “Do you remember Malory?” He looks back at the dark, “Malory, I wish I didn’t remember her.” “What did she do?” “Well, the woman I loved decided to experiment, and she chose Malory. She had a stupid affair with her.” He looked like he was about to cry. “I’m sorry.” I looked away. “So, how do you know Malory?” I hesitated, “She was my mother.” I look at my feet, so my mother ruined the life of our king. “Do you hate her?” I look at Kevin, he stared at me. “She’s my mother, how can a child hate their own mom?” Kevin nods, “You’re smart, Autumn.” I look away, “Just like my father.” I whisper. “What was that?” Kevin asks. “Nothing important.” I smile back at him. “Well it’s important if you say it out loud.” I sigh, “I’m smart like my dad.” We walk in silence for a while, I get the feeling of Déjà vu, but I ignore it. Of course I feel that in the never-ending sea of black. I see Marilynn still sleeping in Terrian’s arms, or is it the next night? It’s hard to tell time when you never sleep. “Jeb is talking to some guy. Should I be worried?” Kevin asks. “Marilynn is fine, so I don’t think so.” Kevin nods, “Thank you, Autumn.” I nod. There was a bright light. I blink, and it’s gone. As is Kevin. “Good bye, Sir.” © 2011 Jessica L. W. |
