Chapter 26 Malory

Chapter 26 Malory

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

We were a perfectly normal family, Mom, Dad, and me, but one day, Mom was walking the streets at night. Dad said to get groceries, but now I know, she was cheating on him.

Mom was walking the streets, when a drunk grabbed her arm for money, she got loose, and ran back home, but, he left a scratch.

She was a different person after that. She got angry easily, and most of the time at me, her four year old daughter.

She was beautiful, brown hair, tan skin, skinny as a rail. She used to have green eyes, but, after the drunk, they slowly became yellow.

Dad had black hair, pale skin, and brown eyes. He was the smartest guy, and the local psychic, and everybody loved psychics. We became upper-middle class when I was three.

I was the best of both of them, beautiful, smart. Everybody expected the best from me. They expected me to become rich, powerful, maybe even change our government.

A week after the scratch, Mom’s eyes were completely yellow, and she transformed.

She took me to the park, it was the one of the few acts of kindness since the scratch, I was excited, but Mom started yelling at this random man, than she had this muscle spasm.

Everybody freaked out. Mom was on all fours, like some kind of animal. She sprouted wings, they were an ice blue. I stood there, in the sand box watching her, watching her become a shiny blue dragon.

When she had completely transformed, she jumped up and flew through the air, leaving me behind.

I tried to walk home; I got lost on Sixth Street. I saw the man she was yelling at. He looked familiar, black hair, green eyes, pale. He looked at me.

“You’re Malory’s kid.” I nod; Malory was my Mom’s name.

“My name is Kevin, are you lost?” He kneeled in front of me, I nod again.

He held his hand out, I took it. He took me home.

When Dad opened the door, he was surprised, but he bowed, “Thank you, your majesty.” He took my hand, and took me inside. He explained that that was the king of the kingdom, and that how special it was for him to take me home.

“But, why does King Kevin know Mommy?” I asked him.

He looked a little sad, “I’ll explain when you grow up.” But, he never did.
