Chapter 16: Mother

Chapter 16: Mother

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

After my conversation with Autumn, I started looking for Terrian. I started walking in the direction he left.

“Fine,” Terrian, who was he talking to? “But if you hurt her in any way, you’re dead” I look around a tree, Mom!

“Okay.” She smiled at Terrian, not a cold one, one where she’s actually happy about something.

“Come on out Marilynn.” He looked at me; Mom stared at me, and started crying. I walk around the tree and stared at my mother.

My mom tried to run up to me, but Terrian lifted his arm, blocking her, giving her a warning glance. She’s afraid of him, what did he do this time?

“Terrian, it’s okay.” He looks at me, his face still filled with sadness from the loss. He put’s his arm down and Mom slowly walks towards me.

    “What happened?” I ask.

She hugs me, I hesitate, but put my arms around her, I squeeze and start crying also.

“Jace is divorcing me, I won’t be queen anymore!” She shouts.

I let her go and back away. She stares at me.

“That’s all you care about? Well that don’t surprise me, it’s all you’ve ever cared about.” I walk away and stand next to Terrian.

Queen Madelyn looks at me, than looks down, “I never wanted to kill you, I’m sorry; he punished me when I didn’t listen. I can understand if you hate me.” She bows her head and starts walking farther into the forest.

“Is there a certain age for someone to rule the kingdom?” Terrian asks.

Madelyn turns around, “Sixteen, why?” Her eyes widened, “Marilynn, your birthday’s next week. Your sixteenth birthday, you can kick Jace out of the kingdom!” She smiles.

“Do you ever think for anybody else? I never wanted to be a princess, and being a queen is worse.”

“Please, Marilynn.” Terrian looks at me, “I’ll be your king.” He smirks; I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks.

“Fine, only if you never say that again.” I say and grin.

He looked a little sad, but he still smirked, “Of course, Princess.” He puts his hand over his heart and bows.

I look at Mom, “Are you going to betray me again?”

She shakes her head, “No, never again.”
