Chapter 14 Kevin

Chapter 14 Kevin

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

Kevin, he looks and acts just like Marilynn, sweet and innocent, but powerful. He is determined to get out of here.

Kevin stops walking and looks around.

    “Sir-”

“Don’t call me that, the name’s Kevin.” He grins at me, his age showing.

“Kevin, why are you so determined to get out of here?” I ask him.

“Well, miss, I must see my little girl again. She must miss me.”

“She does, very much.” Those green eyes, I see Marilynn, asleep on Terrian’s lap, Terrian’s crying.

    “You know Marilynn?” Kevin asks.

    “Yes, I do. It’s a complicated story.” I reply.

“Autumn, is it? We’ve got all the time in the world.” He grins.

How does he know my name? Same thing happened with Marilynn when she first met me. I’ll ask him later.

“Well, Kevin, the queen, Madelyn, spread lies about Marilynn, and tried to kill her. Marilynn ran away from the castle, she passed me by, and I followed her. My brother and I have helped her survive this far.”

“It wasn’t all Madelyn, was it?” He starts walking again.

I hurry and catch up, “No, Sir, the new king, Jace, commanded her to do it, and punishes her when she does something wrong.”

I look at the blackness, how am I able to see Kevin with out any light? Must be the magic of Limbo.

“How do you know so much?” He looks at me, curiosity on his face.

“I’m psychic.” I reply, “How did you know my name?”

“My grandfather was psychic, does Marilynn show signs?” He stops walking.

“Yes she does, did Madelyn murder you?” I stare at him.

Depression filled his green eyes, “That’s a story for another time, tell me more about your brother, with you gone, he is the only thing watching for my baby girl.”

    “Terrian, he’s a were-dragon.”

“And he’s trustworthy and will never hurt my daughter, right?” He gives me a worried look.

“Of course not, I think he has a crush on Marilynn.”

“And will protect her at all costs?”

“He has already killed one of the king’s slaves for her.”

“Marilynn has good judge of character, I will trust her decisions.” He continues walking. I walk a few feet behind.

“So, Autumn, how come he’s a were-dragon, and you’re a psychic?” He asks.

“Our mother was scratched by a drunk one day, only to find she has been cursed by him, and transformed into a dragon on every new moon. Than she had Terrian, who has a little more control over his little dragon.”

Kevin stops walking, I almost walk into him. He turns around, “Do you think we could watch them if we combined our psychic powers?”

I blink, “I can see her in your eyes, last I saw she was asleep on Terrian’s lap.”

“I’ve been trying to watch her for as long as I’ve been here, what do you see now?”

Marilynn was standing all alone, staring at the trees. I wonder if Autumn is watching us right now? Marilynn? Autumn? Where you at? I’m in Limbo, where’s Terrian? He just walked away, why’d you leave? I had too. Silence

“She’s all alone in the forest now, Terrian just left her.” Kevin stared at me.

“We need to find a way out.”
