Chapter 13 Funeral

Chapter 13 Funeral

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

Terrian and I had been sitting in silence, knowing we both need it. Terrian got rid of the body, to who knows where.

“Autumn has been gone a while, where do you think she went?” I asked.

Terrian looked at me, “She’s about forty yards away.” He snaps his head to the left, “She fell.” He jumps up and runs towards her. I follow.

Autumn was on her back, on the forest floor. Her brown eyes open, staring at nothing. She wasn’t moving, wasn’t breathing.

Terrian picks her up, in tears. I start to cry myself. My best friend is dead, but what did she die from? A vision? Or something worse?

I touch Terrian’s arm. Terrian grips Autumn’s dead body even closer to him. He started to scream.

Well not a scream, more like a roar. The birds flew away. I had to cover my ears. When he stopped, the forest sounds were gone, no birds, no animals, complete silence. Terrian stopped crying, he stared at Autumn.

I start to walk away, thinking he needed some time alone, but he said, “Don’t leave me, please.” He looked up at me; his eyes were filled of sadness and fear.

I nod and walk back to him. Terrian puts Autumn’s body on the ground and starts digging a hole with his hands. Soon enough, there is a hole big enough to fit Autumn.

Terrian picks Autumn up and places her in the hole. I help fill the hole in.

We then sit around Autumns grave, mourning.

I doze off for a little bit, I woke up, the sun rising, my head on Terrian’s lap, him leaning on the tree, awake.

He looks down at me, “Morning, Marilynn.”

I sat up and looked at him, “Were you awake all night?” I asked.

He looked at the forest, “Sorry, couldn’t sleep.” We weren’t around Autumn’s grave anymore, did he carry me?

I looked up at him, he stared at the forest, he looked close to tears.

“She must have died to help you.”

I stared at him, “But, I’m not worth it, why would she do that?”

“She always believed in helping others.” A tear rolled down his cheek.

He got up and walked away, poor guy. I wonder if Autumn is watching us right now?
