Chapter 10 DragonA Chapter by Jessica L. W. Terrian was standing in the middle of the clearing, Autumn and I on the edge. Terrian was looking at me with a smirk. Wings popped out of his back, red wings. I jumped and screamed. Terrian had his eyes closed; he looked like he was in pain. The muscles in his arms started to have a spasm. I held my breath. His arms started to grow, something red grew on them, scales. His fingers shrink and his nails grew. I then noticed the same thing was happening to his legs. There was a loud pop, I jumped again, it was his back, and he went down on all four legs. His clothes were in shreds on the ground. Terrian’s head was last, and looked the most painful. His jaw grew, his skull narrowed, scales growing, his ears pointing. When he finished, he was a huge red dragon, scales shining where the sun hit. He opened his eyes, the same yellow eyes, they looked at me. I could see the smirk there, but it disappeared, in its place, a worried stare. What happened? There were two lines going down my face, I touched them. Tears? My legs buckled, sending me into a world of blackness. There was a kid me, running, aging as she does. She then hit a certain age, 11 I think, and stops running. She falls to the ground and sits there, staring into the black. What happened at age 11? What happened to make me stop running? Let’s see, I met Jace, Mom got engaged, no, earlier….. What was it? Dad, Dad died. I stopped running because of that, stopped living. What’s that? There’s a light, looks like fire. Right next to it, little footballs? Yellow, black line, eyes, yellow eyes. The other me saw them and ran towards them, smiling. I woke up to see yellow eyes staring down at me, Terrian. He smirked, “Good Morning ‘Princess’. Was the big Dragon a little scary for you?” “I’ve seen worse, how long was I out?” I sat up, my dress was a mess. Autumn was on my other side, “half an hour. You passed out from lack of oxygen, try breathing next time.” She gave me a worried look. “Sorry, Autumn.” I look back at Terrian, he was staring at me, his face filled with fear. “Did I scare you?” I ask him. “Yeah, you did, I guess you weren’t ready.” “She lasted longer than you thought, she’s fine.” Autumn said. Terrian’s head snaps to the left, his ears twitched. He stood up, and walked away from us. “Where are you-” I started, but was cut off by Autumn’s hand. She was looking at the woods. I sat there till Terrian disappeared into the woods, with Autumn’s hand still over my mouth. She finally removes her hand. “What was that about?” I demand. “Terrian heard something; your voice would only distract him.” Duh, I look to where Terrian disappeared to, waiting. There was a scream, female, Branches scratched my skin, tore my dress, and got caught in my already messy hair. We ran into “I’m sorry!” She screams as she scrambles back up. “ “What happened?” Autumn asks, I’m sure she knows. “The-there was a drag-dragon, a red one. It chased me, it wanted to eat me!” She starts crying again. Autumn turns around, I follow her, Terrian was standing behind us. He wasn’t wearing that shirt earlier. He had a nervous smile; he was scratching the back of his head. “Hi, girls, what’s up?” He asks. “Terrian, you’re so mean!” I shout. “I’m sorry! I thought she was trying to kill you!” Terrian looked at Autumn, who was staring at Alice, who was looking at me, with a cold stare. “ Terrian pushed me away, I fell to the ground. Terrian grew claws, What an interesting day. © 2011 Jessica L. W. |
