Chapter 1A Chapter by Jessica L. W.
“This party sucks, I’m going home.” I say to my friend, Victoria.
“Do you mind if I tell my mom that I spent the night at your house?” She asks. “Whatever.” I reply as I walk towards the front door. I avoided the people on the porch. One of them just happen to be Caleb, and wouldn’t leave me alone. He had neat bleach blonde hair, emerald green eyes, pale skin, and a rich father. “Hey Rachel-” “Bye Caleb.” I opened my car door and got in. He stared at the car for a few seconds, but walked back to his friends. I started the car and drove away. Why did I even go to this party? It’s the same as the others, rich guys inviting every chick without glasses, hoping to get them drunk, and getting them in bed. Poor Victoria was only thirteen, now she’s chasing every guy she could get her hands on. Why am I her friend? Oh yeah, no one else would talk to her, I’m too nice. I got to my house. What’s that blob in my driveway? I parked my car on the side of the road, and got out to see what it was. In the middle of my driveway, was a beautiful grey wolf. I could see his ribs. Poor guy can’t catch a rabbit. I went inside the house, my adopted mother, Amber, was asleep on the couch. I sneaked into the kitchen and found some raw ground beef thawing in the fridge. I went back outside, opened the raw meat, and set it in front of the wolf. Then I sat on the front porch, and watched him. After a few minutes, the wolf opened his eyes. He tried to stand, after a few attempts; his shaky legs finally supported him. I was close to tears just watching. He lowered his head and ate the meat. Then he looked at me, his eyes were a bright green. Then I was watching his bones morph, his fur recede, his features becoming more human. Till the beautiful grey wolf, became a man with wolf ears and a tail. With one hand over his heart, he bows and says, “I am forever in your debt.” “It’s fine, just happy to know you’ll live another day.” I stand up and turn towards the front door. The man runs up to the porch and grabs my arm, “Let me protect you.” I look up at him, what harm could it do? I could feed him; make sure he lives, “Fine.” He grins, “Thank you, I’ll be near by.” And walks away, towards the forest, I smile. What did I do now? © 2011 Jessica L. W. |
