Chapter 7 TerrianA Chapter by Jessica L. W. “Terrian, you don’t have to protect me. You probably have a life of your own, don’t waste it on me.” I ordered him. Staring up at the blue sky. He grinned, “Princess, you’re too sweet, but the queen set out guards to find, and capture you. If I don’t protect you, you’ll be dead in a day.” “How can you protect me? You’re about the same age as I am.” I stared at the trees, hoping that Autumn would come back with the groceries already. He looked over his shoulder, “That is something to tell you when the spy disappears.” I looked at him, behind him, all I saw was the forest trees, “What spy?” There was a rustle, Terrian smiles, “That spy.” I stand up. “Don’t worry he is moving away from us.” “How can you be so sure of that?” I asked him. There was another rustle, softer, must be farther away. He smiles again, “Fine, then who is it?” He closes his eyes, “Smells like a peasant,” “Smells? You’re smelling him?” He opens one eye and stares at me, “You have a problem with that?” “Yes, I do. You can’t just smell people!” He grins and opens his other eye, “Well, how am I going to figure out who this person is then?” I stared at him, after a few seconds, he closes his eyes, “He just picked a berry.” “So he’s not after me, you can stop smelling him.” There was another rustle, even softer than the last, he’s farther away. Terrian opens his eyes, they were a bright yellow. That’s not human. “You’re not human. What are you?” I asked him He smirks and says, “I’m not, I’m a were-dragon.” “So, is Autumn a were-dragon too?” He laughs, jerk, “No.” “Why did you laugh? I was asking a question. It’s not my fault I was curious!” I put my hands on my hips. He smiles, “I’m sorry, Princess.” “Stop calling me that! I’m no princess!” His smile becomes a grin, “What should I call you then?” “Maxine.” Terrian stares at me. I look back at the trees. Terrian says something unpleasant, stands up, and walks away.
