Chapter three: Michael

Chapter three: Michael

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

Ivy and her friends parted ways as Michael began his journey to find his sister. Today was the first day in five years he could get out of the house and he was going to use it to his fullest.

As he walked down the sidewalk toward upper Alton he began to think about Maxine and her tarot cards, Kevin and his likeliness to Michael himself, and Ivy. He had fallen in love with Ivy since the day she was brought home from the hospital. He felt the need to protect her because of her gifts to see the dead. She could be hurt by one of the crazy dead sprits out there. Michael thought.

Michael wanted to talk to her but she never had an open mine to listen to him. She was so beautiful and he couldn’t have her, couldn’t even touch her. As Michael walked up the road he realized he had no clue where he was going. He had to find the house before school let out or he would have no way to find home. I have to focus and try to think of a plan. Michael thought. I guess I will go back to the school and work from there.

As Michael walked back to the school he saw a flash of bright light. Then nothing. Oh god. Michael thought. It’s happening again!

Michael screamed as he felt a ripping pain. Then he landed on a bench in front of the school.

As Michael picked himself up off the bench Ivy and Maxine walked out of the art wing.

“Where is Kevin at, Maxi?” Ivy asked as they walked out to the student parking lot.

“Oh, he got detention.” Maxi said as she searched her book bag for her keys.

“For what now?” Ivy asked as she looked at Michael. Is she looking at me? Michael thought. “What do you want?” She whispered when Maxine’s back was turned.

“He hit Aaron in the face, well more like threw a heavy object at Aarons left eye. He’s got a nice shiner. So where to?” Maxine swung her leg over the motorcycle.

“Actually I want to wait for Kevin if that’s okay?” Ivy moved toward the bench next to the main entrance.

“Alrighty, see ya` later.” Maxine revved the engine and sped away.

“Alright, you, who are you and what do you want?” Ivy moves in front of Michael and points her finger in his face. Michael is shocked she is actually talking to him.

“Ivy, I…I,” Michael couldn’t think of the words to tell her.

“Great, you stalk me and now you don’t know what to say. Gosh this is why I don’t talk to people like you.” Ivy turned to leave.

“Wait,” Michael grabbed her arm. “Whoa, I could never do that before.”

“Wow, who are you?” She asks as she looks into Michaels eyes. She is so beautiful, Michael thought.

“Why don’t we start over? Hi my name is Michael.” He let go of her arm.

“Hi I’m Ivy, what brings you to my life?” she steps back, Michael had moved closer.

“Well that’s a long story. How about I tell you it later, so you don’t look crazy in front of your friend.” Michael pointed behind Ivy to where Kevin was walking out of the school.

“Alright, I guess I’ll see you later?” She timidly said as she turned to leave. She looks like she is afraid I’ll disappear, Michael thought.
As Michael started to walk away when he heard Kevin say something. “Nina wants me home so she can yell at me.”
