Walls

Walls

A Poem by Jessica L. W.

The walls around me

I never let people in them

All they see is the craziness

I let them believe that is all

I don’t let them see the broken pieces

I don’t let them see the lack of effort to piece them back together

I let them see the fake smiles

I let them see that mask I put on

No one has ever tried to go past those walls

The only people in there, were there before the walls

The only people who have seen those tears

Who have seen the depression lurking beneath the fake smiles
