Chapter 1 Olivia

Chapter 1 Olivia

A Chapter by Jessica L. W.

It started with a dream. I look around me. Nothing but black, I was staring at the darkness when she appeared, a woman with brown wavy hair, bright green eyes, and a look of pain and regret. "Are you ok?" I asked as I took a step towards her. Then, she disappeared and I stared at the blackness she left behind. I always had crazy dreams, but this is the worst. I started to feel lonely when giant vines wrapped around me and I saw me with my straight brown hair, dark green eyes, and wearing my favorite peace shirt with bright red butterflies all over it. I gasped. I was planning to wear that shirt tomorrow with a pair of black skinny jeans! The other me look so sad.

Then the other me disappeared and that woman appeared and the vines started to lift me up into the air. This is a really crazy dream, but I knew dreams can tell you important stuff so the questions were what was my dream trying to tell me? Was something bad going to happen tomorrow? The woman started walking towards me. She held her hand up as if to touch me, I flinched, she hesitated. Her hand touched my cheek and she went into my body! I screamed as loud as I could!

I woke up still screaming. Nobody came to my rescue. I looked at my clock, and then the alarm started screaming at me. I got out of bed and looked in the mirror. My name is Olivia Smite. I am your average outcast, being friends with other outcasts. As an outcast I am creative and artistic, but is tossed aside like a dead fish. Right where the girl touched me in my dream was red; I stared right at it for what seemed like hours. I took a shower, dressed up the same I was in my dream, put my shoes on and was out the door for my walk to school. On my walk, I wondered, why didn't Mom or Dad check on me while I was screaming? I saw a tabby cat I see everyday, but today it walked up to me and rubbed his head on me when he usually ran away. "Ummm, Kitty is everything ok?" Of course. I freaked out. That wasn't me. I quickly ran away, track is actually good for something.

I made it to school. I saw my best friend, Holly; she has black hair with red streaks and red eyes that remind me of fire. She was wearing her yellow t-shirt with red flames, with a black jacket, and blue jeans. Holly and I have been best friends for two years now. It seemed like yesterday I moved into this small town of Kidler in North Dakota. Holly ran up to me and we started talking about the Halloween dance later today.

"I have been dying for this day to come." Holly said. We had it planned that I'll be an angel and Holly will be a devil.

"The scariest thing happened to me today." I said.

           "What?" Holly said.

"I think I heard a voice of a cat in my head. Yeah I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true." Holly didn't looked surprised, in fact, I think she was waiting for this moment, but the bell ringed before I had a chance to ask her and we went to class.

First hour and second hour were fine it was third hour that was a problem. We were starting our homework and I started choking! Holly, who sat right next me, was staring at me and looked cool about it.

"Why?" I manage to choke out at her. It's your destiny. Everybody was freaking out except Holly.

Then I fell, and as I fell, I was in the blackness again, this time... it felt like years.

"What happened?" Holly screamed, for she was looking at the angel and devil of Olivia, her conscience. Plant appeared and stared at the devil version of Olivia, looking into the future, and the past. Holly looked around at all her frighten classmates, and erased their memories. They all fell asleep; all forgetting they ever saw Holly and Olivia. Then Holly went on a search of Olivia which took longer than it should.

Holly has been searching for ten years, and found no sign of Olivia, but she did discover another god, Blake, the god of rock. The angel version of Olivia has been following Holly and been trying to help Holly.

"You should know, Holly. Its special to Olivia."

"I have looked in her house, in the house she spent her childhood in, at the track, and the forest, where else

is there." complained Holly

"Remember who her best friend is."

Yeah, yeah. Me. How could I let Olivia down like this? I'm the worst friend she could have."

Holly remembered Olivia, the worst runner in track, the most creative person in her class, daydreaming during a test. Holly remembered how they met. Holly changed, killed her parents and her siblings, was about to commit suicide at age eleven, at the cave, then she saw Olivia, who just move into town, crying and looking out over the ridge. "Are you okay?" Holly had asked, and when Olivia looked into the eyes of Holly she said "Fire." and smiled.

"That’ it! The cave!" Holly jumped up, scaring the angel of Olivia.

"There you go." Said the angel.

They ran to the Kidler cave

My dream this time... I was watching myself, or the other me at least. I was killing people and laughing. "Stop." I said, weakly. The other me look at me and laughed

"You can't change who you are, a weapon designed to kill. Look at what you can do." She got hold of a stick and the stick turned into a sword, and the sword was glowing a pale green light!

"What's happening?" I asked, staring at the sword.

"Also your friend Holly isn't who she seems." I looked up surprised at the other me and asked,

"What do you mean, she tells me everything, right?"

"She tried to tell you, but she seems ten years late." She said smiling.

Ten years? I thought. She kept talking, but I wasn't paying attention. Ten years? I asked myself again That means Holly grew up and forgot all about me, me, dead as a rock, dead by choking. What was I choking on? Friendship? False Friendship? Why was I mad? And at Holly? She made life worthwhile. Holly was my first and best friend. I should be thanking her, if I could.

Someone screaming woke me up. I stared into the darkness, and saw a moving blob rising up from the ground. Then fire appeared, in the hand of a person with hair the color of darkness with rows of fire. Holly.

I jumped up in excitement and ran towards her. Then I stopped when I got a good look at Holly. She was

grown up, looked about twenty, but, if my calculations were right, she's twenty-three.

"Olivia." She had tears in her eyes, "I finally found you." I looked at her surprised.

“ Olivia? What's wrong?" Holly asked, concerned

"Has it really been ten years?" I asked.

"How did you know? Wait. Never mind that. I have been searching for you for so long. And I finally found you." She hugged me, I smiled and hugged her back. Holly. Did she ever stop searching? I died; she should have given up long ago.

"Why did you keep searching me? I died, remember?" I felt the anger bubbling up. "Holly you should of lived a happy life, don't waste it chasing dead girls."

Holly looked at me with the pain clearly showing on her face. "Your my best friend, and I know how to bring you back."

I don't think this will work. I died." I said again. It was warm out, was it summer?

"I know you keep telling me. Now shhh! Your body's coming!" Holly told me as she pulled me down behind a bush. I don't know why she can touch me, I'm a ghost, right?

My body, the exact way as when I died, except she was covered in blood, came walking around a corner, with the sword in her hand. She saw the dummy Holly put on the ground, and walked towards it. Then the net snapped up right when she walked on it and she dropped the sword.

"That seem to easy." Holly said, "She must have something up her sleeve."

Holly and I walked up to my body, I touched my body and I was sucked up into it. I screamed, then I realized I was in my body again, sticky with blood.

"Do you need a shower? I have a house in town." Holly said, noticing me trying to rub the blood off my skin.

I looked up at her. She stayed in town. Waiting for me, I bet. Holly started walking and I followed, we went to my old house in Kidler.

"What are we doing here?" I asked surprised, she bought my old house, where did my parents go?

Holly looked at me, there's the pain again. She said, "You killed your parents in your sleep. I was hoping your parent's ghost could tell me where you went , but they passed on. Peacefully."

I killed my parents, in my sleep. "How horrible was it?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"They were strangled, by giant vines." Holly said, but couldn't look me in the eye.

"What kind of monster have I become?" I said as the first tears spilled down my cheeks.

"I will love to tell you, but she has to." Holly said. Holly notice my tears and wiped them up

"Who's she?" I asked, still crying.

"Her name is Plant and she's right behind you." Holly answered.

I spun around and saw the girl from my first dream. She looked the same, wavy brown hair and bright green eyes. This time though no look of pain and regret, she was smiling.

"Hello Olivia."  Plant said. I looked at her, waiting for an answer.

"You want to know what you are, but I don't think you will like to hear this." Plant said, "Holly would you like to tell her?"

Holly smiled, "Awesome. Ok, lets see, you saw me with fire in my hand right?" I nodded, "Well I'm the Fire goddess, while you, you are the Earth goddess, that explains why you killed your parents with vines. Don't be scared, or lose your mind."

My brain tells me not to believe her, but my instincts tell me to believe. I'm going with the instincts. I smiled, Holly and I were different from everyone in town, by a lot.

We finally walked into the house, Holly gave me my room back.

The shower felt amazing, I haven't had a shower in, like, forever. When I got out there was a dark green shirt with a girl standing under a big tree, looking over a beautiful field, dark jeans, underwear, and bra. I put them on and went into the living room, Holly was watching a 3-D T.V.

"Awesome T.V!" I yelled and run to the couch and sit next to Holly. She laughed and put on reruns of my favorite T.V show. It's been so long, I forgot the name. I didn't really like T.V, but this show, is an exception. I watched the show laughing so hard I got tears in my eyes, Holly, on the other hand, wasn't laughing.

"What's wrong Holly?" I asked between laughs, "You always laughed at this show."

Holly looked at me, grinned, and said, "I've seen this show so many times."

"Hoping to find me?" I asked, I stopped laughing.

          Holly smiled and said, "Yep."

I said nothing, I got up and walked into my room. Holly left it untouched. Same alarm clock, same clothes in closet, same bed, sheets, and cover, same T.V, and same wallpaper. I crawled up on my bed, and started crying. My parents died, I killed them, Holly wasted her life to bring me back, never to think how this would affect me.

Holly came in and sat next to me, she rubbed my back, laid her head on my shoulder, and told me she was sorry. It didn't take me long to stop crying, and when I did, Holly stood up and held up her hand to help me up. She half-heartedly smiled at me.

We went back to the living room, and Holly switched the channel to some documentary about some future thing I can't pronounce, or even spell for that matter. While I was watching T.V, I could feel Holly stare on me. I looked at her, but she already looked back at the T.V.

I looked back at the T.V and watched the show, every once in a while feeling Holly's stare, but not looking back. Finally I asked the question she was probably was waiting for.

"Is there any others like us? We can't be the only ones. Can we?" I asked.

"No, I found one more like us. His name is Blake, should we go get him, or wait a while?" Holly asked.

Amazing, others, I would probably get tired of being stuck in a house with Holly. His name, Blake. I thought of what he looked like. I thought about brown hair, shaggy, brown eyes, big, and pale skin.

"Let's go get him, where does he live?" I asked.

"In the mountains," She smiled, "Get in the car."

In the garage there is a black car, looks beautiful, I went inside and it had soft seats, a DVD player, and a GPS. I buckled up, and waited for Holly to start the car and leave this small little town.
