You Lied

You Lied

A Poem by Ashlee
"

you promised, you lied

"

You promised me the world,
You lied.

You promised to take me with you
When you left for your trip.
You lied.

You made these promises,
Without a second thought.

I will take you to Paris with me.
I will buy you the moon.

Anything for my precious girl.
I want you to have everything,
That your heart desires.
Nothing shall be taken.

I will tell you stories for life.
I will take you shopping.
I will never let you go.

You promised me these wonderful things.
Why?

Why did you have to make them?
Why not say that you couldn’t
Give them to me?

You lied.
Over and over again.

I want to make it up to you.
I want to take you to dinner.

You think that will make up for all the lies?

You think you can buy me off?
With expensive cloths,
Diamonds, and pearls.

Nothing hurts worse then this.

My darling, I love you.
Please, let me take you somewhere.

Okay, fine.
But, don’t make any promises
That you can’t keep.

I promise that I won’t.

There it is again,
You promised,
You lied.
