PRISONERS OF WORDS

PRISONERS OF WORDS

A Poem by inuSarah

Words, sweet words!
Oh! How sweet are those words
That came out of your mouth,
As you speak to those innocent hearts;
Like a pure honey
Freshly gathered from the hive.

Powerful! So powerful
That you made the hopeless hearts
Believe in miracles;
As if your words
Could turn a stone into bread.

Honey, you were so sweet sounding!
You were like singing
The song of the sirens
As you speak to the hearts of the wise;
They were enchanted,
Forgetting everything they knew.

Dear, you filled these hearts with words,
Yet your words are all but empty!
It was nothing but a trap.
Now you hold them captives,
Captives of broken promises;
Prisoners of false hope.

And your selfish greed
Would not want to set them free.

I enjoyed the twist of contrast towards the end - praise followed by criticize. Interesting read.
