It Seems We ForgetA Poem by SarajaneIt seems we forget childish, simplistic joys when the vast world thrusts open our eyes to differentiate between simple and complex comfort and necessities. Like how the familiarity of sweet Chap Stick, cookie dough between small fingertips, pure fruit smoothies Nana would make, large sweaters, when Mom used to engage. Is not essential to a drivers license, what depression meds to take, the side affects of a termination, reversing the affects of THC, what nutrition is needed to intake. We lose so much when we’re forced to grow as we let go of simple things that once bred bliss, we hide away and conceal parts of our souls We unwillingly sacrifice our childhoods to enter a world that doesn’t want us. Till we find our second home.
