Song of Strange

Song of Strange

A Poem by Devesh
"

Life, darkness, soul

"

Songbirds wander
within my soul,
in search of sound
in silence strange.

The black yonder,
in devil's hole,
a birch, it tethers
to a foal.

Its cries echo through leaden
sky, begging for a change.

Smothered sounds,
a blanket woven
the stillness of the strange.

What we see often becomes more than is in a writer's mind.. perhaps because we each see or notice different colours, shapes, shadows. etcetera. And, in the process, just for blink of an eye or a sigh, time stays still and begs a change of impossible direction. Perhaps this is how you see and feel.

'.. the stillness of the strange.' What is strange to one, can be usual or common to another.

I like the above lines. I like how you use the language. Your understanding of words allowed the reader to search the words and find their place. A songbird is a symbol of beauty and dream. A strong ending to the outstanding poetry.

Thanks a lot, Shaquana! :)
I could only imagine the imagery within your mind as you wrote this profound piece. I would like an explanation of the true inspiration of this work when you have the free time, a deep sense of familiarity is here. Thank you for sharing your inner-most thoughts.

They do indeed. Thanks for reading! :) Glad you enjoyed! :D
I liked the strong imagery in a short message. They say a key to writing is learning to say a lot, with very few words. This one left me to wonder at the ways it's message could be interpreted.
Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed it.

Songbirds wander within my soul...beautiful imagery

You had me with the first line and the last stanza - wow! Stunning.

There is such a soft, dream like quality to your writing that I find very appealing.

"the stillness of the strange"

i think as poets we are a strange lot..we aren't necessarily still, but what we write is a still shot of life...and is like deep forest waiting to be explored...

i really like this much...
