AmericaNightmareA Poem by insanityA sociopolitical commentary of mine.Dire, grim, it must seem, The hollow American dream, Rests in pieces on the floor, A mirror shattered, evermore, Silent words the smiles hide, Uttered never, unless plied.
Pages of faces reticulating, Feel much more isolating, Looking from outside in, Downward spirals now begin, Its transcendental behest, Miming the emptier rest.
Tug of war, help us pull it, Angry fists, the silver bullet, Lies right into to our faces, Closing the open spaces, Where minds may capture, A most verdant rapture.
Champions of wool and silk, Value much more of its ilk, Seen daily on the streets, Discordant harmony repeats, Phrases, we dare not declare, Upon signs raised into stolid air.
Smile and shake their hand, Their case shall be remand, Upon the scales once more, Where justice may not implore, Bias remains away in hiding, In time, it’s always biding.
Nightmarish fears shall falter, Alas, this dream cannot alter, Those, who choose not to see, Sullen faces of unbridled enmity, Floating by on clouds of nine, The American Dream is just fine. © 2012 insanityAuthor's Note
