Gray SkiesA Poem by insanityJust came across this in one of the old notebooks I used to write in figured it was worth posting.
Rain runs down my windowpane The soft sound fills my head again Dreams of sunny days gather quick The cold, dank weather has me sick Like the world outside, I shed a tear I only wish that I were far from here Where the ocean and sky live as one Perturbed only by a gentle passing sun
When it rains like this I think of you For you my dear, kept my skies blue Nary a cloud ever dotted the azure sky Passing ships could not catch my eye You were radiant in the sparkling sands As we clasped together our open hands Our hearts moving in perpetual motion As we stare out into the infinite ocean
The days passed by and we grew older Over time, summer skies grew colder And our island paradise shriveled away Now we are left with nowhere to stay Autumn, precursors winter's white doom Do we too succumb to the coming gloom Or will you and I find a path to salvation In the corridors of our lurid imagination
Sunny days have been laid to waste Fall passed us by with fervent haste In it's wake the gray skies held fast Under trees great shadows were cast As rain soon fell on the leaves, we ran But we ended up lost, without a plan Now we're caught here in between Where to go and where we've been
I kept on moving right through the night As heavy skies filled with morning light I realized I was left alone out in the mire So now I sit here in this shack by the fire Thinking of where you might be off to Wondering if you see true skies of blue All the colors of my world faded away Without you, I live under skies of gray © 2009 insanity |
