SunshineA Poem by insanityI forgot what this feeling was until I met you...
Driving in the darkness that surrounds Running away from fear that abounds Frightening creatures litter the roadside A lone set of lights on the roadway ride Horizon filled with embers of the night Riding down this highway of moonlight
Unsuccessful attempts to cover my tracks Leaves the road behind littered with cracks Looking in my rear view I see what's behind The diabolical demons lurking in my mind With their malevolent mastermind schemes Come to prey upon much sweeter dreams
Instead of focusing on things come and past I need to turn 'round to see the sun rising fast The horizon fills with candy colored clouds Shadow trees lose all their darkened shrouds As I look on down the road, I continue driving Ahead I see such a beautiful new day arriving
The ruins of yesterday are long since forgotten The sorrowful memories, moldered and rotten Die quick as I see you coming into my sight And with the dawning of a bright new light No matter which direction I happen to veer I know because of you, my path stays clear
I'm on the road to paradise, to see my girl She shines so bright, like a newborn pearl I plucked her from the dawn's open shell Now I'm caught under her sunshine spell The beautiful little dreamer feels industrious Here in sun-kissed reveries she is illustrious
She is all that keeps me continuing forward Right on down the road, flying free as a bird Though rain begins to fall, the sun holds fast Though clouds may gather, I can still see past Deep in my heart, you'll always have a home Wherever your sunshine may choose to roam © 2009 insanity |
