Made of Glass

This is my commentary on modern day society, take what you will from it.

The dark expanse
Mirrors that in my eyes

Colors twist, swirl

Between black and white

Under heavy clouds of gray

Winds rustle barren trees

Leaves litter the sidewalk

Like the pieces of my heart
Scattered carelessly about

A million pieces of glass

Shattered...shattered

 

Looking at the lights

Down in the streets

Some red, some white

From high above

Everything looks safe

Men scurry about

Like ants under our feet
Giants rule the realm
Precariously pandering
A million dreams

Shattered...shattered

 

Blood stained carpet

Bloodshot eyes

Another transgression

Slowly eating away

At the whole

Pieces atrophy

And fall away

Smiles and memories

Torn to shreds
A million families

Shattered...shattered

 

Another morning

The sun reflects
Smoke and mirrors

Leave us blind

To what we're missing

It lies within us all

It was lost long ago

In the land of imposters

We put on a happy face

A million fake smiles

Shattered...shattered

 

Glass hearts

In glass people

Live in glass cities

On top of glass hills

Their hollow dreams

Their empty lives

Are on display

I can see right through

And they're all

Just like me

Shattered...shattered
