Hands of Fate

Hands of Fate

A Poem by insanity
"

Ever believe in love at first sight (or in this case, first shout)?

"

Not far from the ocean

Lies a bustling city

In constant motion

With such pity

I stare towards the horizon

Contemplating the profound

As the setting sun

Spreads beauty all around

I ponder endlessly

Perhaps if they were free

They could see

The resplendent beauty

Alas I am alone

On this seaside bluff

Where the fading sun has shone

But I ask, is it enough

As it slips beyond the brink

I am alone once more

To sit and think

But such things are a bore

When you’ve got nothing to do

And the worlds got you down

As the sky grows a deeper blue

My smile has turned to a frown

The last ray of hope

Dies into the endless night

Dare I try to cope

And begin to write

Seething with rage

I scribble onto parchment

With every page

I find these words are god sent

Sadly the only person

Who will ever read such prose

Is the only one

Who truly knows

The beauty of the setting sun

Sitting here in the dark
What has brilliantly begun

Ends with a lark

For who am I to kid

The message is clear

As beggars bid

On all I hold dear

I fall slowly

Into the depths of my mind

As I writhe in anxiety

Of the demons I might find

Seconds pass into hours

And the night wears thin

My disposition sours

As I release the agony within

I shout into the empty air

The ocean breeze carries the pain

A soft voice calls back, ‘Hello there!’

As the sun rises once again

As I stare down to the beach

A raven haired beauty steals my breath

Nervously I do beseech

“By blazes, you scared me half to death!”

She called back to me with such a claim

‘Why kind sir, I do apologize,

That was certainly not my aim.”

“Worry not beautiful one, t’was a mere surprise.”

‘Why you are entirely too kind,

For I know you not,

But such compliments I do not mind

I’m afraid you’ve put me on the spot’

“Well we don’t have much time to waste

For the colors of the morning are near

Join me on the cliff, you must make haste

For the fire of a new day begins here”

I awaited her arrival on the rocky crag

No longer did I lament

Such writings were now in my bag

For among angels you cannot be reticent

I heard her call out to me as she neared

The words I did not understand
For she was more beautiful than I feared

As she drew near and took my hand

We walked towards the edge

And sat together to enjoy the show

We stared out over the ledge

At the shining sands below

In this very moment I felt so inspired

That the words came flowing out

“Not long ago I was quite sad

For I did indeed shout

When you answered back I was quite glad

That I now had someone to share

Such brilliance and beauty

Forsaken by the world with nary a care

But now that you’ve joined me

I can truly say

That this angel I am sitting beside

Has made this a wonderful day

For my true feelings I cannot hide”

‘For many moons I’ve wandered the sands

Searching for what I do not know

Strangely, fate has placed me in your hands

Sitting by your side watching a beautiful show

That the world does indeed miss

I must share in candor

That I am in bliss

Taking in such splendor’

The sun rose into the sky

As reds and purples fade

But I did not try

To forsake what destiny had made

For before we headed off

I shared my craft

But this time I did not scoff

For earlier I was feeling a bit daft

“I only hope you will join me again soon

For such company I truly enjoy

I dare not try and swoon

With such a ploy

But it is such a rarity

That I find such a soul

Of unequivocal parity

Loneliness has taken its toll

But now that I’ve found you here

I feel I can no longer go on alone

My message is clear

As brightly as the sun has shone
You beauty cannot be surpassed

For even this wonderous sight

You have greatly outclassed

And I feel as though the night

Was truly well spent

For you must be from above

Only angels are heaven sent

I am indeed in love”

‘I am flattered by your sentiment

And certainly amazed by your words

But I am not heaven sent

I do not fly among the birds

Nor do I comprehend this:
In a sea of crows you are a dove

It is my hope that we can share our bliss

For I too am in love’
