BaggageA Poem by insanityWe all carry baggage with us, some are more burdened than others
Life is a story An empty book Each day we write another page Love is a great tragedy Out to the audience we look Each act changes the play Yet we try to remain the same We play out our roles As we make our way Through this chess game We must avoid the holes And traps that lie ahead On life’s rocky road If we hold our heads high Stop thinking we’re better off dead That we can’t handle the load We must remember why
Before we learn to walk at all We have to learn to crawl Life’s not so bad If you learn to start small It doesn’t do you any good at all To be so sad If you can keep your head up high And not feel so livid For my dear in love The limit is the cerulean sky Painted with colors so vivid Ones you could only dream of I only hope there is still time Trying to mend a broken heart Is like trying to find Two words that rhyme For to even start You must open your mind
The quixotic look in your eyes Cannot conceal what lies beneath Hidden in between the lines Running through the skies As we lay upon the heath On a bead of tines The blood runs from our veins As we waste away here Broken by the lies from the past For you, all that remains Is to replace all your fear With a love that will last It tears me apart inside Knowing what he did to you As he dug his teeth Deeper into your side For his love was untrue Lies and deception lied beneath
As we stare at the star of morning Perhaps we can find hope In each others eyes There is no more scorning For together we can cope With all that dies Such disastrous finds In our personal hells Where we can no longer live In our troubled minds Like prison cells Holding us captive But much like the rising sun If we join together And walk down this rocky road When all is said and done After all the storms we’ll weather I know together we can handle the load
