Shifting Skies

Shifting Skies

A Poem by insanity

The sullen clouds loom

Their shadows cast upon the naked ground

Despite the impending gloom

Happiness can be found

In the azure sky

Just beyond the clouds

A gleam catches your eye

Blotting out the dark shrouds

A solitary beam of light

Catches the sand on the beach

Try as you might

The light is just beyond your reach

Please, do not fret

The light is hidden within

You have not discovered it yet

For it is not where you have been

It lies in where you must venture

For your ills will pain you more

Unless you find the cure

Hidden in lands you know not before

I am here to guide you

I know these islands well, not to boast

For I too

Once stood on that sandy coast

Dare we venture out into the water

For what shall we find

Out here in the reef lies danger

Of a far more lethal kind

It is that of a viper’s kiss

And a medusa’s stare

Temptations such as this

Make the journey hard to bear

But we must soldier on

For the light is gathering near

Just ahead, on the horizon

As the sky becomes clear
