Vacant

A Poem by MCS
"

Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do. ~ Voltaire

"

Kindness makes it possible

Conviction gives strength

Decency builds fellowship

Inclusion creates investment

Fairness opens the soul

Shelter, sustenance, fair wage, a human right

Simplicity at its core

However, daily it falls apart

We are guilty of inaction

So much wisdom here Mary. If each one of us did a little better, what a huge difference that could make collectively. We are all guilty. Well done. Your posted image is captivating.

"To one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17 There are sins of "omission" and sins of commission. We all know what the latter are. But few think about the things they leave undone; the kind word, unspoken, the helping hand not offered, the money withheld in surplus that might have helped someone else in need. Those are sins as well that hinder our potential growth as children of God. Conviction comes from faith and faith comes from God. So we are admonished, " Do not quench the Spirit" 1st Thessalonians 5:19 but allow the Spirit to do the works God intends for us through us. Like a good child is eager to please its loving parents, we should also be eager and ready for every good work. I really enjoyed this read because it echoes a truth that needs to be heard and known. We are builders in the Kingdom of God. We are like the Master Carpenter who builds a home that will last for eternity. That is our job, to become a little more like Him every day and a little less like our stubborn, vain, selfish and sinful selves. Christ said, "I came that they may have life and have it more abundantly." So we are not asked to give without promise of reward but whatever we give to others God will supply in abundance for us. That is a truth that brightens ever closer to the coming dawn. I believe this because I have experienced it for nearly seven decades my own life. An old friend of mine, a brilliant mind and a professor who died from throat cancer, told me once, "If we can't help each other in this life, what good are we?" That puts all the "religion" out of the way to the simple quandary of what am I doing for others? "Doctor Dan" , my friend, was always good at getting to the heart of the matter. Great read.

Pete, thank you. At the end of the day the collective just needs to do better.
Wow, a great one, it says it all! The thoughts of a Good Soul in 9 lines.
Might I add a 10th (re "guilt")? ... Self-forgiveness helps. ...
... haha, do as I say, not as I do :)
